A report in the local paper on 1 June 1905 said that Buckie CC had wakened to the fact that the season for cricket was here. Practice had begun but the Club "was in need of a few pounds for adequate outfits to enable them to undertake matches with other Clubs".
They must have scraped together sufficient cash for they travelled to Fochabers where they lost 60 to 29 and visited Keith to suffer a similar defeat 67 runs to 33.
It was 1909 before Buckie CC took the field again and it was a busy season with several games being played.
They opened with a match against Buckie Higher Grade School which the schoolboys won by 31 runs to 24.
It is reasonable to assume that the present club was established in 1909 and with the exception of the years of the two World Wars has had a continuous existence.
Banff visited the Public Park and lost 71 to 34. T Bunting had a good match for Buckie scoring 40 not out and taking 4 for 13, while W A Donald took 6 for 18. W A Donald repeated his figures in the next game, which Buckie lost at Cullen by 52 to 44.
Buckie followed up with wins over Macduff (39 to 29) at the Public Park and over Banff (53 to 42) at Princess Royal Park, Banff. Bunting and Donald were again the wicket takers as well as scoring most of the runs.
A return game with Cullen was played which resulted in a win for Buckie (22 against 11). John Birnie who will be remembered by senior members of the present Club had the distinction of claiming the first hat trick for the Club when he took 6 wickets for 5 in the match.
Buckie made their first visit to Castle Park, Huntly and lost, scoring 38 while their hosts replied with 61 and later suffered another defeat at Fochabers (29 against 69).
After several barren years there was now an upsurge in interest. As well as the Buckie games, the Higher Grade School played Keith School winning 81 to 28 with T Bunting making his presence felt scoring 35 and lost to the Gordon School, Huntly 109 to 95.
A match between Buckpool and Buckie Wednesday resulted in a win for Wednesday by 47 runs to 32. Wednesday had the advantage of the services of R J Anton, an Aberdeenshire player from Huntly who was on holiday in the town.
Buckie also played against Wednesday and won easily scoring 80 for 6 while Wednesday totalled 71 over their two innings.
Buckpool played Messrs Jones employees but the result is rather a mystery. One report gave Buckpool 32 and 33, a total of 65 and Jones 22 and 44 for 9, giving a score of 66 and a win for Jones. Another authority gives the result Buckpool 65, Jones 63 and a win for Buckpool. It seems one can take their pick and everyone is happy.
Competitive cricket arrived in 1910 with a cup competition under the auspices of the Banff and Moray Junior Cricket Association. Seven names were in the hat for the first round draw which resulted:-

Despite being drawn at home, Buckie travelled to Elgin and returned with a 7 run win to their credit. Details are:

Buckie were also involved in a four club league competition known as the Banffshire Cricket League. Banff, Macduff and Huntly 'A' were the other competing teams. There is no record of the final outcome of the League and the only League Table published is shown below and is early in the campaign.
