Buckie v Elgin
First Day of the Season

The first league game of the season was notable for its instant forgetableness, if that is a real word! The Buckie batting collapse would put the English Cricket team to shame, being dismissed for 57, with Wilson top scoring with 19, the fifth highest score being 1.

The Elgin reply was laboured, under a spell of quality swing bowling by S McDonald who ended the day with figures of 2 - 22. However 57 was never going to be enough and Elgin won by 6 wickets with 20 or so overs to spare.

A good net needed by the batsman I think... however redemption is never far away, and Buckie entertaining Nairn at home on Saturday.

Well the first day of the season was dry, and after last season that is a newsworthy event. It started with Buckie playing Keith in the 20/20 tornament. Things started well with Buckie winning by 5 wickets, bowling Keith out for 100 with Duane Creamer taking a few wickets.

However the second game did not quite go according to plan loosing to Huntly by 6 wickets, with Buckie suffering 4 run outs.

All this means that Buckie CC have a free weekend the second weekend of hte season... The first league game being the 3rd May away to Elgin. The seconds are home against Ross County on the same day.

JUNIOR COACHING
Time to Practice

Please make sure that you check out the junior section for what is new and what is coming up within the junior groups...

The outdoor coaching has under gone a bit of a overhaul for the new season. Kwik Cricket nets for P4 to P7 will be no Tuesday nights 6.30pm to 7.30pm, and will start on the 6th May at the Linzee Gordon Park.

Whilst coaching for Secondary school players will be on Sunday afternoon 2pm to 4pm. This will be hard ball cricket, so if you have your own pads etc please bring them with you. This will start on the 27th April at the Linzee Gordon Park.

Regular nets this year are on Wednesday at 6.30pm, and will focus on cricket training under the direction of Dave Braiden. At the Linzee Gordon Park (near Parklands)

Dave has come to help us with the aim of increasing the quality of our all round cricket, so will probably include fielding drills, catching practise as well as more focused bowling and batting skills.

Hopefully this will improve our skill set, and bring back the glory to Buckie, so painfully stolen away last year!

TEAM STATS
NOSCA MEAL
The team statistics for last year are now up to date, and placed in no particular order. The individual stats pages should be updated soon, so keep an eye open for that.

Sorry for the delay in getting them up, it is a combination of lack of time, and still learning how to use the web editing program.

Well the meal was fun, even if a bit long in the end, it was strange for me being at the NOSCA meal and not being surrounded by trophies... not won by me of course... but still.... Congrats to Eadie though for finding the after dinner speak, interesting, fun and short a ideal combination!
